What actually separates good public policy from policy that just sounds good on paper? That question has been sitting on my desk — literally scribbled on a sticky note — for years, and it still drives most of what I write and analyse.

My mornings often start with a government report in one hand and a notepad in the other. The analyst in me is looking for patterns, gaps, and what the data quietly implies. The writer in me is already thinking about how to make those findings land for someone who is reading during a lunch break or preparing for their first role in public administration.

How I Work

I test ideas before I write about them. If a framework for evaluating public programmes sounds compelling in theory, I want to see how it holds up against messy, real-world conditions first. That habit keeps the writing grounded and, I hope, genuinely useful.
